As the lecture started, the professor formed random groups among the students in the classroom and started assigning the roles described in the case to each group member. Then she gave us about 20 mins to discuss and debate about the problem and possible alternative solutions and arrive at a decision.
So there were now 11 ‘business groups’, each with their own perspectives and rationale behind the solution they chose. Each of the groups presented their solutions, with inputs from the professor and the students. Finally, the professor gave a reasoning for each of the solution and the major learning that came out of this classroom discussion was that there is no one perfect solution to a business problem.
Which ABG company would I like to work for and why?
ABG is one of top conglomerates in India which offers roles in the general management domain. As a student who joined IIM Rohtak to specialize in not just one domain, but to gain overall knowledge of all the aspects of business, I would love work for any company of the ABG group in the general management domain. But if I have to choose, I would like to work for Idea Cellular Ltd since I have interest in working in the telecom sector. Also, I have a cousin who works for the company and hence I know about its work culture.
